What is your favorite animal?

My Favorite Animals (And Why They Matter So Much to Me)

If someone asks me, “What is your favorite animal?” my answer is never just one.

Animals have personality, emotion, and a way of grounding us when life feels heavy. For me, two animals stand out the most: my sun conure parrot Hay Hay and my lynx point Siamese cat Kenny.

They’re very different — but both bring joy, comfort, and laughter into my life in ways that are hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it yourself.

Hay Hay the Sun Conure Parrot

I recently adopted a sun conure parrot named Hay Hay from a local pet store, and he instantly became unforgettable.

Hay Hay is stunning. His feathers are made up of bright shades of orange, red, yellow, and green, like a tiny flying sunset. He also has these big feet, perfect for waddling around like he owns the place.

But what really makes Hay Hay special is his personality.

Hay Hay’s Favorite Food (No Joke)

Hay Hay loves McDonald’s french fries — but only the soft, squishy inside. He carefully avoids the crispy parts like a professional food critic.

And after he eats?

He somehow smells like chicken nuggets.

Yes. The bird smells like chicken nuggets.
It still makes me laugh every time.

Hay Hay is curious, silly, expressive, and full of life. He brings color and humor into the room the moment he shows up.

Kenny the Lynx Point Siamese Cat

My second favorite animal is Kenny, my lynx point Siamese cat — and he might be the most unusual cat I’ve ever met.

Kenny is one of those cats who:

He’s fearless, clever, and endlessly entertaining.

A Cat Who Likes Baths

What makes Kenny truly special is how gentle he is.

You can give him a bath.
He’s okay with water.
He’s even okay with a hair dryer.

Somehow, he just stays calm through all of it.

Despite his adventurous nature, Kenny is incredibly patient and trusting. You can pretty much do anything with him, and he just goes along with it. He’s not just a cat — he’s a rare, special companion.

Support animals aren’t just pets. They’re grounding, calming, and deeply personal — and they deserve to be celebrated.

Why Animals Matter for Mental Wellness

Hay Hay and Kenny remind me of something simple but important:

Animals help us slow down, laugh, and feel connected — and that’s a huge part of what ThoughtsBeCaught is about.

Sometimes, your favorite animals aren’t just animals.

They’re family.
