Daily writing prompt
Do you ever see wild animals?

Living in town doesn’t mean you avoid wildlife — it just means the animals you meet are a little more… creative. In fact, my neighborhood is full of stray cats, curious raccoons, and moments that remind me how alive even a quiet street can be.

A Town Overflowing With Stray Cats

I’ve truly never seen so many stray cats in one place. They wander across sidewalks like they’re on important missions, sunbathe on porches, and form little friend groups that roam together. Somehow, these stray companions have become part of the neighborhood’s personality.

Heartwarming Winter Shelters

One of my neighbors builds small winter houses for the cats — boxes filled with hay so they have a warm spot during freezing nights. Seeing a stray cat curled up in one of those makeshift shelters always feels like a tiny reminder of kindness in the world.

The Raccoon That Tried to Break In

Raccoons around here are bold, but one moment stands out.
We once had a raccoon try to break into the house through the portable air conditioner exhaust.

Its little paws pulled at the vent like it was cracking a code. For a second, it looked like a tiny masked burglar on a mission. Thankfully, it gave up and waddled off — probably annoyed there were no snacks inside.

Everyday Wildlife, Everyday Emotions

Even small wildlife moments like these can shift your mood — making you laugh, easing stress, or reminding you to pause for a second. Stray cats and raccoons can reveal unexpected joys.

That’s actually one of the things I love about using ThoughtsBeCaught, my mental-wellness app. You can capture quick moments like these — funny, stressful, surprising, emotional — and watch how your thoughts and moods change over time. Little snapshots of life, even involving stray cats and raccoons, can tell you more about your emotional patterns than you’d expect.

ThoughtsBeCaught is built around one core promise: “Change is possible — and here’s the proof.”
