The ThoughtsBeCaught Privacy Policy is built on one principle: your data belongs to you.
This policy explains how I handle your data in the ThoughtsBeCaught app and on the ThoughtsBeCaught website, always with a focus on user-owned privacy, Web3 principles, and transparency.
📱 ThoughtsBeCaught App Privacy
The ThoughtsBeCaught app privacy policy ensures that your reflections, thoughts, and emotional logs remain yours.
Default Mode (Signed in with Apple, Google, or Email)
- Sync is enabled by default.
- Data is encrypted and stored in your own account space on Firebase/Firestore.
- Sync only exists to:
- Keep your data accessible across devices.
- Support future anonymous community features (like collective insights, mood tracking, and leaderboards).
- You may export or delete your data at any time.
Local-Only Mode (if you skip sign-in)
- All entries stay on your device in a secure local SQLite database.
- Nothing is uploaded, shared, or sent to me (or anyone else).
What I Don’t Do
- I never sell, mine, or profile your personal information.
- I never use your data for advertising or marketing.
🌐 ThoughtsBeCaught Website Privacy
Just like the app, the ThoughtsBeCaught website privacy policy follows the same principle: your data belongs to you.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, I collect:
- The data shown in the comments form.
- The visitor’s IP address and browser user agent (for spam detection).
- An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar (see their policy).
Once approved, your profile picture is public with your comment.
Media
Avoid uploading images with embedded EXIF GPS data — visitors could extract that information.
(Alt text tip for SEO: Use descriptions like “ThoughtsBeCaught privacy policy screenshot” or “user-owned data privacy in ThoughtsBeCaught.”)
🍪 Cookies
I use cookies to improve browsing:
- If you leave a comment, you may opt to save your name/email in cookies for convenience.
- Login cookies last up to 14 days if “Remember Me” is selected.
- Cookies also store display preferences and help when editing blog posts.
🔗 Embedded Content
Pages may include embedded content (videos, articles, images). These behave just as if you visited the third-party site, which may:
- Collect data
- Use cookies
- Track your interaction with embedded media
📤 Data Sharing
- If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the email.
- Otherwise, I do not share your data with third parties.
⏳ Data Retention
- Comments and metadata are stored indefinitely.
- For registered users, profile information is stored and editable at any time (except your username).
📥 Your Rights
If you have an account or left comments, you may request:
- A copy of your stored data.
- Deletion of any personal data (unless required for legal or security reasons).
🚀 Where Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through automated spam detection services.
🔑 Ownership & Web3 Principles
The ThoughtsBeCaught Privacy Policy follows Web3 privacy principles:
- You own your thoughts, logs, and reflections.
- Sync is a convenience, not a surrender of ownership.
- You retain cryptographic proof of ownership.
- Future versions may support decentralized storage.
- You can grant or revoke access at any time.
I don’t own your data — I provide tools so you can keep, move, or erase it on your terms.
