A year ago, if you had asked me where I thought my life would be today, running my own startup — ThoughtsBeCaught LLC — and building the ThoughtsBeCaught app would not have been my answer.

I never thought I had the guts to do something like this. Starting a company felt out of reach, like something meant for other people. But here I am — doing it anyway.
Taking the Risk to Build a Mental Wellness App
What gave me the confidence to start my own company came from a few key places coming together at the right time:
- Support from loved ones, who believed in me even when I didn’t fully believe in myself
- Using an LLM models I genuinely connect with, not as a replacement for thinking, but as a tool for clarity, momentum, idea sharing, and learning
- Winning coding competitions related to this app, which quietly proved to me that my ideas, execution, and persistence had real value
That combination helped shift something internally. I stopped waiting to feel “ready” and started trusting that learning as I go was enough.
The Win That Changed Everything: $0.05 — and Growing
When the ThoughtsBeCaught app first launched, there were very few users. Some people downloaded the app, opened it once, and never came back. There was no meaningful revenue, and plenty of moments where quitting would have been the easier choice.
Then one day, the app made $0.05.
That number might seem insignificant — but it wasn’t. Because it didn’t stop there. The income kept rising, and now that number has doubled.
That small amount meant something important:
- Someone found value
- The system worked
- Progress was no longer theoretical
Building a mental wellness app taught me that progress doesn’t need to be loud to be real.
Sometimes proof isn’t loud. Sometimes it’s quiet, incremental, and easy to overlook — unless you’re the one building it.
Why Those Small Wins Matter
Proof doesn’t always look like headlines or big numbers. Sometimes it looks like showing up every day, improving a little at a time, and choosing not to quit when momentum is barely visible.
Those small wins are what keep you moving forward.
And right now, that’s more than enough.
