Daily writing prompt
Can you share a positive example of where you’ve felt loved?

Introduction

Love doesn’t always arrive in grand gestures. Sometimes it shows up quietly—in a hug, a moment of understanding, or simply being held without judgment. When I reflect on where I’ve felt loved, a few moments stand out. They aren’t perfect, but they are real, and they’ve shaped how I understand connection, healing, and hope.

The Pure Love of a Child

The place I’ve felt love most clearly is in the arms of my daughter. When she hugs me, there’s a deep sense of safety and acceptance. There’s no expectation or criticism—just presence.

That kind of love is grounding. It reminds me who I am beneath stress, responsibilities, and self-doubt. It asks nothing of me except to be there.

Love in a Relationship: Complicated but Real

I used to feel that same sense of love with my partner. At times, I still do—especially in moments of closeness, like a hug. Those moments remind me that love can still exist, even when it feels distant.

But relationships are complicated. Alongside love, there can be criticism, misunderstandings, and emotional distance. Feeling loved doesn’t always mean feeling perfect—it often means working through difficult emotions together.

Choosing Growth Through Couples Counseling

We’re currently in couples counseling, and while it isn’t easy, it represents hope. Counseling isn’t about fixing one person—it’s about learning to listen, understand, and reconnect in healthier ways.

Choosing to work on a relationship is its own form of love. It’s deciding to keep showing up and believing that growth is still possible.

Love Isn’t Always Loud

Love doesn’t always look the way we expect. Sometimes it’s effortless, like a child’s hug. Other times, it’s messy and requires patience and work.

Both forms matter. Both teach us something.

Conclusion

When I ask myself where I’ve felt loved, the answer isn’t simple—but it’s honest. Love has shown up in quiet moments, hard conversations, and the choice to keep trying.

And that, too, is love.
