As a kid, I couldn’t understand why adults loved coffee so much. I remember taking a sip from my parents’ cups and immediately thinking it tasted terrible. Later, I discovered what it means to love coffee as an adult. It was bitter, strong, and definitely not something I ever imagined enjoying.
Somewhere along the way, that changed, and I began to truly love coffee as an adult.
Today, I don’t drink much coffee because I gave up caffeine years ago. Even so, I still enjoy having a cup every now and then. What I appreciate most isn’t necessarily the caffeine—it’s the experience itself, and this is a big part of why so many people love coffee as an adult.
There’s something comforting about the smell of fresh coffee brewing in the morning. Even black coffee, which I once thought tasted awful, now has a rich flavor that I genuinely enjoy. The aroma alone can bring back memories and create a sense of calm for anyone who has come to love coffee as an adult.
It’s funny how our tastes change as we grow older. Things we once disliked can become things we appreciate, not because they changed, but because we did.
I may not drink coffee every day anymore, but I’ll always enjoy the smell, the taste, and the simple ritual of sitting down with a warm cup every once in a while.
Change is possible — and here’s the proof.

As a teacher, I’ve had to utilize coffee carefully throughout the school year. I try to cut back during my summer break. But I can definitely tell the difference if I’m not drinking a much!!
